Start indoors 8-12 weeks before last frost. Keep the soil humid during the first 2 weeks. The temperature needs to be +/- 75.2 ºF (24 ºC) for best germination results. Transplant out when low temperatures are above 45˚F or grow in greenhouse. Frost tender herbaceous perennial in temperate northern climates, gown as annual. Perennial in zone 9. Cover when night temperatures if cool. When saving seed, discard tan colored seeds, as they are not viable. Keep the black and dark brown ones.
