Sow in greenhouse in April, plant out after last frost. Can be sown in early autumn, divide in spring or autumn. Vigorous and quite cold tolerant, bolts quickly in spring and can be sequentially sown for continual production. Woodland perennial hardy to zone five but usually grown as an annual. Suitable for growing in containers. Prefers dappled shade. Leaves tend to turn yellow in full sun. Avoid planting in hot summer months. Requires consistently moist soil, however, do not over water. Will self-seed and may be difficult to remove once established. Surface sow, press into soil, do not cover. Soil pH 5.1-7.0. Hardiness zones 5–9. Perennial.
